Sons of Adam

Reid Palmer is fifty years old, and he feels like time is running out to have some of the adventures he has always dreamed of. He is determined to realise his dream of mountaineering in Pakistan's Karakoram Mountains, but when his younger brother, Wil, invites himself along, it becomes a contest.
Wil is the favoured son of their parents, Adam and Evelyn Palmer. He is self-assured but also very self-serving, having - amongst other things - moved interstate, abandoning Reid to care for their ageing parents alone. Reid's resentments are many, and he decides that Wil should be exposed for what he is.
In the mountains, however, everyone is humbled by Nature: by her beauty, her capriciousness, and her indiscriminate favour, and as Reid experiences Nature in all her might, he finally comes to understand his ego's imperfections and vulnerabilities. When Wil falls into a crevasse, Reid overcomes his bitterness and risks his life to save him, but is Wil changed by his near-death experience?
"Sons of Adam" is a modern day version of 'Cain and Abel' and is a solid tale of jealousy, selfishness, and revenge.
