Matt Palmer took Rosanne Bender off the streets because his business would do better if he had a beautiful wife. He'd chosen Rosanne for her Plain beauty and because he felt sorry that her fiance, Jared Smucker, had died in a coma.
Years later, Matt finds out the truth about Jared when letters from Amish Country start showing up at his office. Although he never loved Rosanne, he can't give his wife up because she is convenient for his business.
