Tom Trinity believes baseball is his life. He's wrong. Even if he's thrown nothing but no hitters as a pitcher. They force Tom out of baseball and into a mother's betrayal. Later he slides into the truth about who he is and where he has come from and tries to tame the love he has for Tammy as if she is a switch hitter he cannot strike out.
