Star Struck

Karma is a bitch.

Lilly knew this. She had learned this lesson over and over again yet kept making the same mistakes that brought her back to this realization. Karma is a bitch. Or was it just life in general that made her think karma was a bitch? Either way, something was a bitch and Lilly kept running face-first into it.

Lilly wasn't your average person although she thought that she was. Short and slender physically, smart and dumb at the same time depending on what subjects were on the table. She was respected by her friends and could make anyone feel better with her sick sense of humor and witty outlook on things. She was on the outside very average but on the inside, she was something more, so much more than she ever thought she could be.

The heavens had not shined down on Lilly recently. In a very long time, it seemed like. Two marriages that failed were enough for her to not believe in fate or destiny or wishing on stars. She didn't believe in karma until that cold night in March when she stood outside on that darkest of nights and cursed to the heavens to keep all the falling stars, that wishes were a fantasy told to little girls to make them believe in something that would never happen and ultimately lead to a lifetime of disappointment. That's where the story begins...
