Regina is the perfect blend of beauty of soul and body to both Sterling and Christina. Sterling is the long-time friend who has always been there for Regina during the good and bad times, as she has been for him. He does not just want to be the good friend. However, Christina is the new face, and a beauty herself. She is not the intellect that is Sterling, but Sterling, with his enormous nose, is far from having the physical beauty of Christina.

After a martial arts expo, Sterling thinks Regina is ready to proclaim her love for him, but she proclaims a love for Christina - a new recruit at Sterling's school. Sterling, wanting Regina to be happy, and after appraising Christina as worthy of Regina, makes an agreement with Christina to teach her to be what Regina desires; Sterling is both a teacher in martial arts, as well as poetry and philosophy. As part of Christina's education, Sterling joins her physical training with poetry, philosophy and style; Sterling thinks if he can't be what Regina wants, she should still have everything she wants in another.

After going through some training and education, Christina, being impetuous moves too soon, and angers Regina. Sterling has to overcome that anger and does so for Christina. But from the experience and seeing more of what each in the relationship wants and that she was losing herself instead of having Regina fall in love with who she is, Christina eventually decides she doesn't want to become what she isn't, and to make Regina decide between the woman Christina is, against the soul that is presented in the poetry created by Sterling.

At a party, Christina asks Regina if she loves the words that were read, or the company that she is present with. Before Regina has a chance to choose, those who hate Sterling and Christina for the ideas they represent come to the party, and they are carrying weapons to emphasize their hatred.
