Living and working with her aunt and uncle at a citrus grove in Persimmon Hollow, Josefa longs for the glamorous life of a sophisticated fashion designer. Her dreams alarm her Tía Lupita, who fears such ambitions are unrealistic for a 19th century woman. She decides Josefa should live with distant relatives and prepare for an arranged marriage.
