Louis Amédée Eugene Achard, born in Marseille on April 22, 1814 and died in Paris on March 25, 1875, is a French novelist and playwright. In addition to his journalistic activity, he finds time to write about fifteen plays and about forty novels, among which many cape novels and sword novels. It is wrongly attributed to him the paternity of this expression, which Ponson du Terrail had used before him, but his novel entitled The Cape and the Sword , published in 1875, makes him one of the fathers of the genre. He was admired in this by Alexandre Dumas .
This novel tells the life of a volunteer during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870.
