Roberta M Roy's book of Inspirational Fiction, Jolt: a rural noir, medaled for Inspirational Fiction in the 2011 Jenkins Living Now Awards and her work as an editor interviewer has drawn praise for her ALVA Axiom Anthology of Author Interviews (ALVA Press 2014). In it, an array of writers discusses with her their creative roles in publishing and the media.
By contrast, Straight from the Robin's Nest is a collection of essays Roy wrote on a variety of timely topics that have been previously published in the ALVA Axiom.
With Roy as its creative lead, ALVA Press Inc began publishing the works of others in 2011. Since then alvapressinc.com has published some fourteen titles by nine different authors in both book and eBook forms. Among the eBook/book titles ALVA Press lists is Kristen Henderson's book of deeply moving poetry, Drum Machine, which earned a Gold Medal in the 2011 internationally recognized Jenkins eLit Awards. In January 2015 Roy anticipates introducing a new author, Janet Marie Russo, and a second Jake Soho mystery, Fancy Dancer, written by Carl Waldman.
ALVA espouses the notion that a publisher must Cherish the writer . . . Delight the reader.
