This can cause pain when he goes to the bathroom, which can lead to irrational bathroom fear. If your child is constipated or has painful bowel movements, see a pediatrician. #3 Potty training your child is a matter of how much effort you want to put into it. It can be done at any age, but it will be more difficult as your child gets older. #4 Potty training your child, especially if she is older than three and a half, may be more difficult. You will have to deal with a behavioral aspect of potty training that doesn't come into play when you train a child at a younger age.
