They came to one of their favorite spots, and Lilly sat on a stump, waited a moment, and then plunged into her past. "When I was young, I loved and trusted God with ll my heart. If anyone told me I would lose that trust, I would have thought that was impossible. Shame marked her face as she finished her dreaded story.
At last, she dared to look at Tom. His face was pale; he stood up and walked away.
