The first three stories of the series Surreal Semester:
Exuberance: Alex Krumpl, an introverted grad student in mathematics, finds his life turned upside-down when three coeds move into the apartment below him. Boisterous Claire doesn't seem to know the meaning of "quiet hours," shy Sarah has difficulties with her calculus homework, and bossy Jessica is, well, bossy. Plus Alex's dissertation research has hit a stone walland then Claire's hot friend Beth shows up.
Quietude: It's Friday evening, and Alex has settled down to work on a proof in peace and quiet, safe in the knowledge that his housemates have left for a night of riotous partying, thankfully elsewhere. Or so he thinksbut it turns out that rambunctious Claire has stayed behind. A conversation ensues, and Alex finds that her friend Beth has talked. And Claire is intrigued.
Tutelage: It's Tuesday afternoon, and Alex has to tutor his housemate Jessicawho, as usual, takes charge. And that evening, while Claire and Jessica are out partying, Alex is visited by his third housemate: shy, innocent Sarah. To his surprise, she has questions about more than just calculus. Can Alex tutor outside of his comfort zone?
