The objective of this brief Monograph is to bring to the fore vast potential available to the State of Andhra Pradesh in terms of the rich endowment of long coastline of about 974 km. The attempt is to bring to the notice of the Government, Policymakers, Planners and the people of Andhra Pradesh as to the ways through which the vast potential of the coastline can be deployed in diverse ways for the economic and social development of the State. It is also to underline the way the sea coast can be made the pivot around which, the development model for Andhra Pradesh can be weaved. Ever since the concept of 'Development Economics' originated with the great contribution of Adam Smith through his celebrated writing "An Enquiry into the Nature and causes of the Wealth of Nations" experts have realized the significance of the presence of natural resources as sine qua non for leading the development. In the same context, the State of Andhra Pradesh has been endowed with the long coastline and it is for the Policymakers and the Government to design a 'Development Model' around this. The present Monograph is an attempt in that direction of identifying Key Indicators (KIs) of development that can change the 'Economic Profile of the State of Andhra Pradesh'. Thus it includes discussion on the areas such as Sea Ports, Fisheries, Salt Development, Tourism and Sports. Each of these areas is considered vital in transforming the economy of the State. It is hoped that the readers would notice meaningful point of view in prescribing the Plan of Action for 'Development of the State's Economy'.
