The plot of THE DARK INVASION centers on Kyle, a 17-year-old orphan lad from a small village on the fringes of the Eastern Kingdom of the plain regions, as he experiences his epic coming of age and call to destiny. He is the eldest and adopted son of a local security guard, Alec. Cherished by Melissa, Alec's late wife's biological and only child. Kyle feels different from the other people. He imagines himself as a legendary warrior who joins the Royal Troops of the Plain to defend the traditional provinces against Anthiophicus, the dark emperor of the dark empires, and his dark infantry and other beasts on the opposite side of the shield.

When he reaches adulthood, Hargon, the legendary sorcerer of the traditional countries and Anthiophicus's archenemy, summons him to travel to Avalon, the legendary home of magic, in order to get a sword with enormous mystical abilities (the sword of might). The only weapon capable of defeating Anthiophicus. He met Kyon, a fugitive dragon from the opposite side of the shield, and the two bonded before setting out to face their fates.

However, Back Home, the Royal court is rife with conflicts, rivalries for power, aspirations, jealousies, violence, and betrayals. In order to stand a chance against Anthiophicus, King Edward must select an heir from among his two sons and unite the four regional armies.
