THE RESCUE OF PLUFFLES

Joseph Rudyard Kipling was an English short-story writer, poet, and novelist. was one of the most popular writers in England, in both prose and verse, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He wrote tales and poems of British soldiers in India and stories for children, and he also was the first to use Cockney dialect in serious poetry.
"The Rescue of Pluffles" is a short story, which first appearance in book form was in Kipling's first collection of short stories, "Plain Tales from the Hills". It centers on the Pluffles - is a subaltern in a regiment known 'The Unmentionables'. He is callow, and 'trusts his own judgement': and, at 24, becomes "bound hand and foot to Mrs. Reiver's 'rickshaw wheels" - that is a hyperbolic way of saying that she dominates him. The book can motivate to investigate a number of other novels about the British occupation of India and it is simply an enjoyable reading!
