The TS Hanseatic was not just any cruise ship. Actually an aged lady, she was a phenomenon in the burgeoning post-war Germany and synonymous with dreamlike and luxurious holidays. No wonder, then, that this ship still has a special reputation, although - or perhaps precisely because - it had to be severely damaged by fire as early as 1966 and then scrapped. In this book, Josander Schück resurrects this dream ship - in the original and as a model. An on-board diary of a ship's hairdresser with a large number of unpublished photos and other documents gives an insight into the working life on board a cruiser in the 1960s. The detailed description of the construction of a 1:100 scale model of the Hanseatic also shows how such a model can be built and given life.
