Set against the background of the momentous First Crusade (1099) as related by Torquato Tasso in his epic poem 'Gerusalemme liberata' ('Jerusalem Delivered' 1581) are three moving stories of knightly love and loss, stories which cross the great divide between the Christians and the Muslims in their struggle and yearning desire to possess the Holy City of Jerusalem.
Accompanying the stories are six unusual solo songs. They are settings of Torquato Tasso's text, composed at the beginning of the seventeenth century, in a new style which heralded the imminent advent of the new musical theatre form - Opera.
The songs were recorded in Jerusalem and performed by Jerusalem artists.
