In dark and dangerous times, missing lowlanders is just one of many mysteries that stalk the land. An entire containment is rife with mistrust, scarred by deep-running memories of war and suspicion of all outsiders.

Stille van Veen, a mercenary from the lowland island of Lekelith, sets about discovering the truth behind his missing countryfolk and rumors of slavery. Brought up in the darkness of war, he is only too eager to find answers to the questions that haunt him.

But before he can start unravelling the truth, he is called away on a seemingly simple assignment: to steal a chest from a wealthy estate. What begins as a simple robbery unravels destructive forces working behind the scenesa powerful cult that will stop at nothing, not even death itself, in its unyielding quest for power.

Stille van Veen finds himself stumbling into a plot so vast and unrelenting, that it threatens everything he holds dearand it is he alone who holds the key to shattering it.
