As a young man, Robinson Crusoe is very much interested in sea life. On a trip to Africa, Robinson loses his ship, goods and crew. He lands on an island. Most of the novel is devoted to his struggle for survival on that island. He does very well on the island. Then, savages come on the island. With the help of his newly found assistant (Friday), he is able to overpower the savages. Finally, he returns to his native place and meets his kin. Daniel Defoe, the author of this novel, is best known for this classical adventure.
