The guilt of Captain Henry Wirz, Commandant, of the Southern Prisoner of War Camp at Andersonville, Georgia to this date remains a mystery. This book speaks to who Henry Wirz was prior to entering service in the War of Northern Aggression (the Southern title for the Civil War). It tells us about the type of family he came from, his marriages, education, and reasons for immigrating to America. You get to decide if this man was capable of committing those crimes for which he was convicted and ultimately condemned. Or was he the victim of a high level conspiracy to grab individual power, in an effort to control civil kayos after Lincoln's assignation? What none of these powerful politicians seemed to know at the time was that the Wirz family, back in Switzerland, was about to enter the equation.
