Carl Weathers was a well-known American actor, director, and former football linebacker. He is best known for his role as boxer Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky movies, Colonel Al Dillon in Predator, Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore, and Combat Carl in the Toy Story franchise. Weathers played football for one year in the NFL as a 6-foot, 2-inch, 200-pound linebacker for John Madden's Oakland Raiders in 1970 and 1971, where he played in a total of eight games.
Weathers' fame began with his role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies and continued through his appearances in numerous movies and TV shows, including Predator, Happy Gilmore, and The Mandalorian. He also appeared in the Toy Story franchise as Combat Carl, and portrayed Detective Wes Block in The Gauntlet.
Carl Weathers was born on January 14, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He passed away on February 1, 2024.
