"God, just kiss me already," she pleaded, not caring that her pride had abandoned her in the face of her rabid longing for him.
His mouth claimed hers then, moving on it with an intensity that threatened to rip her sanity to shreds, and she was squirming on his lap in an attempt to get closer as his tongue stormed past the barrier of her lips in search of hers.
She realized then that it was what he had been waiting for. He had wanted her to beg him.
Had it been anyone else, the display of macho egotism would have turned her off. But somehow she was finding Gavin's quiet dominance a heady aphrodisiac, and she was clinging to him with a shameless abandon as he plundered the warmth of her mouth, taking what he wanted with a fierce greed and still demanding more.
His grip on her waist tightened as he lowered her onto the sofa, stretching out his enormous frame above her while his lips continued their sensual assault on her mouth, and Angel had no idea how long they remained there, but her legs were curled around his hips and she was gasping to find her next breath when he finally pulled away and straightened up, his chest heaving on each labored grab for air.
"We have to go," he whispered, his eyes stormy with desire as he reached over and grasped her hand. "Reservation's for nine," he reminded her as he pulled her up beside him.
Surely he had to be joking.
But the expression on his face was serious as he clambered to his feet and smoothed down his jacket with trembling hands, and Angel remained staring at him for a long moment as she fought to tamp down the red-hot desire that was still ablaze within her.
Gavin Blade was gorgeous and talented and had a playful side that appealed to her. But he was also a wretched tease, and he had known exactly what he was doing when he asked for one kiss.
One kiss, my ass, she mused as she rose beside him and plastered a smile onto her lips.
