Edgar Wallace was an English novelist, journalist and playwright, who was an enormously popular writer of detective, suspense stories, and practically invented the modern "thriller". Hundreds of films have been made from his stories Wallace was the writer, whose works, more than any other author, were adapted to the big screen.
