Arthur Henry "Sarsfield" Ward (better known as Sax Rohmer) was a prolific English novelist and pulp writer known for his supernatural mysteries and detective fiction. Sax Rohmer is best remembered for his highly influential series of novels featuring the supervillain and master criminal Dr. Fu Manchu.
Fu Manchu became a cultural icon and has been featured in cinema, television, radio, comic strips, and comic books for over a century. Fu Manchu has also become an archetype of the evil criminal genius, antihero, assasin, crime boss, and mad scientist while also lending his name to the Fu Manchu mustache.
