Why do relationships have to be so complicated?

Kate Browning has built up a business from bright idea to the verge of a Stock Exchange listing. Success in business has not brought equal success in her relationships. Both her previous lovebirds turned out to be cuckoos in her nest, so she has been alone for the last six months. Being a wealthy and successful single woman makes her the target for gossip and unwanted admirers. Why can't she find a man to provide companionship and, yes, intimacy on her terms but with no strings attached?

Rafe Fortenza is the artistic son of an Italian immigrant family. He has used his talent as the basis for his own business. That has grown well, but his love life has not. His most recent relationship ended in bitterness and recriminations in spite of everything he tried. Since that time he has vowed to remain entanglement-free until he can find a woman prepared to accept him as he his and not to keep him guessing all the time. Unfortunately his single status, successful career and good looks make him the target for every woman on the make for miles around. Why can't he find a woman to provide companionship and, yes, intimacy on his terms but with no strings attached?
