'The colours of a square rainbow' is a collection of thoughts in form of poetry penned down to inform, encourage, guide and reveal to the reader certain secrets of life. It touches love, romance, perseverance, dedication, attitude and character.
In the poem 'You' there is encouragement for all those who suffer from self-doubt. Self-doubt is a feeling that many people suffer from, but it can be overcome. This poem explains that there is light at the finish line. You may not see the light along the way but if you give up then there will be no reward.
In the poem 'Choices' the author is saying that there are always two roads in life, and only one is good. The choice is yours to make, and at the end of the good road is happiness and fulfillment. It pushes for hard work and determination, and says that there are many things one may do in life and excel. In any facet of life, you will be successful and happy if you determine to be.
The poem 'Day by Day' tells us about daily struggles and how it affects reasoning and the push for success. Success is a combination of various individual qualities with the support of good guidance and the divine. It is a direct result of hard work. Very often we view failure as a result of other peoples influence in our lives, but the opposite is exactly the case. Failure is a result of our own influence on our lives. Success also is the same.
On love, poems such as 'The Reason I Love you' satisfies the usual story of young male lovers who have been turned down by a lady whose desire lies somewhere else. Young love persists as seen in the poem. The young man may be seen as a fool for seeing nothing wrong about a girl, but then, love is a silly feeling, don't you agree?
'Akachi' is another poem about love and desire. Desire often lies in the eyes and many times we want our lover's eyes to show desire for us without which we may not be convinced of their love. It leaves much to question when the eyes reveal something else. Akachi's eyes reveal nothing, 'as still as a windless night', and the young many is left to his imagination for he plans to win her heart.
'Resolution' is a classic story of self-determination, a 'come what may' mentality. Anybody mindful of success, from time to time needs to say, 'There is nothing I am afraid of, I am above and would emerge with victory from the most adverse situation.'
Our mortality is something that we should always be aware of. It keeps us human. 'We are always dust and mud' relates to us in that way. You may gain all lands and till them but the fact remains that when you die you become part of the land you claim to possess. Rich and poor have the same resting place where there is no discrimination.
The grass is not always greener on the other side but there are places where it is sure that you will find the grass green always. 'I Know Where the Green Grass Grows' tells us of a perfect place of love, laughter and beauty. It exists and wonderful things happen there. In reality if we want Green Grasses' we should take care of our 'lawns', water them regularly and the grass will always be green year in and year out.
The Colours of a Square Rainbow will hold you down. It will brighten your mind and paint black areas white. Many poems are written in the first person because everyone is unique in their own way. It addresses individuality.
