Mottram Oakley loves detective stories, but he didn't expect his British vacation to present him with so ripe a chance to exercise his ambitions. When a murdered man is discovered in the crypt of Welbury cathedral, Oakley teams up with fellow-American John Clevedon to solve the crime. Their efforts come to nothing, but Oakley is pleased to accompany his new friend back to the U.S.A. as a combined secretary-librarian.
