At the centre of human history stands an event, more meaningful, more significant, and more mysterious than any other: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The fact that David saw this event 1000 years before it happenedeven more clearly than those actually standing at Golgotha in AD 33is central to its great mystery. Truly, the salvation won by Jesus on the cross is for all people, in all places, at all times. Indeed, the light of this saving love shines as brightly 1000 years into the past to David, as it shines 2000 years into the future to us. For the death and resurrection of Jesus is the gate of eternity, of eternal salvation, and of eternal life.
