The full-moon was glowing luminously over this merciless part of our city, and it was well past midnight. One police officer, Leo Brown, on duty tonight, looked into a narrow alley. It was about the woman Alice Crown, and the bestial, or horrible way she had been murdered, and the way her killers escaped.
