The manager of a multinational company, Thomas Lockwood, flies to Milan to help his Italian colleagues to promote a new software product in the field of video security. Here he accidentally meets a girl who introduced herself as Italian Monica Sarto. Lockwood is fascinated by this beauty, he spends several days with her and eventually enters into close relations in a rented apartment where the girl lives. The next morning Tom was detained in his hotel room by the local police, Monica Sarto and her lover, the adopted son of the vice president of the international concern, Henry Archer, are found shot dead in the same apartment where Lockwood visited the day before. Tom is suspected of double murder, having seen a photograph of the dead, he understands that he did not meet with the former waitress Monica Sarto, but with a girl posing as the dead. Lockwood and his lawyer are asking the lead investigator Inspector Graziani to track down the scammer.
