The story takes place in the present and concerns the members of a dysfunctional family who reside in a creepy, little stone cottage. The mother, Cora, runs a popular flea market located across the road from her home.
Cora was never a good mother. She swore and drank and neglected her children. Her two adult children left to make lives for themselves as soon as they could. And when, after many years, she requests that they return home to discuss something of grave importance, they returned reluctantly to find Cora on death's doorstep.
Her two highly educated children thought themselves too sophisticated to believe in the paranormal, but with her passing, Cora, would make them believers. And if her children thought she was evil when alive, they would find her to be even more wicked and ruthless after she was dead. Those that complied with her wishes were sparred her brutal retribution, but even her own flesh and blood learned that to cross Cora's ghost was to suffer the most dreadful consequences.
Cora had kept several secrets during her life and the one person who had knowledge of those secrets was a stranger to the family. A beautifully exotic woman with unusual physic powers, she came to set up her fortune teller's tent in Cora's flea market one season, And she would prove to have some astonishing secrets of her own.
