The Great Gatsby is a novel written by American author of novels and short stories Francis Scott Fitzgerald in 1925. His writings described the so-called Jazz Age with it's materialistic people. The characters of the novel live in a fictional town of West Egg situated on Long Island in 1922. The story is mainly about mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his pure and passionate love to the beautiful girl Daisy Buchanan. At the same time in his novel Fitzgerald censures unlimited materialism and the lack of morality in American society of that time. The Great Gatsby is considered to be Fitzgerald's greatest work.
