"I have approached my review as a professional social worker with 38 years in child welfare and a diploma in forensic abuse of women and children. The author has done excellent work in support of her thesis subject. The bibliography presents a clear list of the resource information which validates the book. It has obviously been researched thoroughly. The author has studied and noted the difficulties through case histories, world history, and current events. The author represents many examples of abuse and societies cause for them. My proof reading did not find any self-contradictory concepts, and each argument followed logically from everything preceding. There were no gaps in the authors reasoning and I found no term which needed defining. The book is certainly not a novel. I found it a critique of societies handling of abuse toward women and girls with the author recognizing that the same applies to men and boys. Though my interest waned a bit with the historical examples, I do understand this content was necessary for the author to prove her point. It's would be most helpful to the first time reader or student. In summary, the book has been well researched and is an interesting read. I have shared it with a much younger person who saw it's value as a text book. I agree. I was on the curriculum committee at the college level and this could be introduced at the first semester CYW or SSW program. Overall it is well done." Professor
