This's not the story of your traditional, everyday family, or perhaps it is?! After all, who knows what goes on behind closed doors?!

Jodie, our protagonist, is but one of the many maltreated, tyrannized, and tortured souls that we pass on the street every day.

Jodie was an only child, her father passed away when she was 17, and so did her mother, a couple of years before our story took place. And to top it all, her parents were immigrants, so she had no blood relatives living in the same country. What's more, she only had a few friends, who in their turn, turned their backs on her when push came to shove, just like everyone else she knew did.

Her husband was an adopted child, he didn't have much regard or respect for his adoptive parents, he only visited them once a year, so no love was lost there. His love for Jodie withered with time, till it faded away completely.

Jodie was like a hermit; she liked to fly solo. And as the story of her life developed, she started feeling like the whole world was against her, even her own flesh and blood.

Do you ever wonder if someone is coming to save you?! And if there is no one coming to save you, do you ever wonder if maybe you have to save yourself?

Jodie's very existence was threatened by none other than her own family, she felt like she was being purged by them. She ultimately came to grasp the reality and the complexity of her situation; she knew that she needed to seek an outsider's help, but she didn't know how. Little did she know that fate would make her bump into the right outsider, just the one she needed, yet not who she wanted. The outsider came with her own ulterior motives, and she only did things the way she saw fit, not the conventional way. Moreover, she didn't come alone She came marching in with her armies of trespassers and transgressors.

Jodie didn't know that she unlocked Pandora's box the moment she decided to trust that interloper.

As the twist of fate would have it, Jodie's life changed, but not the way she'd expected; it only developed for the worse, more problems surfaced, and her whole family's existence was then in the balance. She felt out of her depth, but it was too little too late to unmake the decisions she'd already made.

When the new cruel rules of her reality got enforced on her, her life got inextricably intertwined with other people's, they all wanted a piece of the cake, some even wanted the whole cake to themselves; they wanted to take what Jodie had and even what she didn't have.

Their intensified greed, and their need to possess more, only brought upon a series of infelicitous calamities that changed the course of their lives forever.
