The Last Day of the Last Voyage of Star Ship AV334

It was not my plan to die today. It was not my plan or my ships plan to be blown into small glowing atomic particles. I don't think it was the plan of the people who attacked my ship that my ship and some of their people and equipment would also be blown into glowing atomic sized pieces either. However, despite the lack of plans some of these things did indeed happen.

It was actually convenient. Those people who attacked me were less than interested, at least I hoped they were, to spend time and money looking for a spacer and a star ship which they had seen turned to atoms. Most convenient was that I did not need to worry about my attackers hunting me any further. I was sort of safe, at least from them.

On the other hand it was rather inconvenient. While I still had a valid set of identity paper they belong to a person who was known to have died in a spectacular and well publicized star ship explosion. Attempting to use them would have resulted in questions being asked. Questions I didn't really want to answer. Being I was not atoms expanding in a small portion of the universe, there were other problems too. My spacer pension, any insurance I had, though I thought I had none, whatever money I had in savings and any other galactic wealth I might have accumulated was now gone. Not sure where it was gone but I'm sure they weren't going to mail it to me care of my non-existant star ship or even worse Betlaus Station.

In addition, flying my destroyed space ship and landing at any space station would be difficult. More questions would be asked I would like to avoid. So, other than having no usable star ship, no available money and no known existence things were not too bad. At least not too bad if I ignored the people who attacked me and the aliens who are controlling my star ship.
