This book describes the Life and Teachings of Saint Luke the beloved Physician.

St Luke "the beloved physician" was born a Greek and a Gentile in the city of Antioch, Syria.

Luke was the only Gentile evangelist to write the Gospel for the Bible.

Luke was the inspired and very well educated writer of the third Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles and his writings have been discovered to be accurate historically.

He was instructed in the Christian Faith by the Apostle Paul, who had never been with Jesus in the flesh, but also by the other Apostles following Jesus.

Therefore, he wrote his Gospel from what he had heard the other Apostles and the women following Jesus; but he compiled the Acts of the Apostles what he had himself experienced.

At the beginning of the Gospel of Luke, Luke wrote that he had written an orderly account of the gospel for the "most excellent" Theophilus (a name for the friend of God) to explain the life, teachings, and miracles of Jesus.

The Acts of the Apostles was written about the acts of Jesus' Apostles after His Ascension.

Luke documents the events of the Catholic Church, including the stoning of Stephen, the Church's first martyr (Acts 6); the council of Jerusalem (Acts 15), in which the Church determined that Gentile converts did not need to become Jewish and a number of Saint Paul's missionary journeys.

Between these two books, Luke wrote a 27.5 percent of the New Testament more than anyone else, including Paul.

In his Gospel, Luke emphasized Christ's feeling for sinners and for those suffering.

Readers of the Gospel of Luke will find a strong emphasis on the part women played in Christ's ministry.

The Gospel of Luke directed its attention on the poor and segregated, advocating tenderness and compassion for the less fortunate.

In the gospel of Luke, the beatitude is written as "Blessed are you who are the poor" instead of "Blessed are the poor in spirit"

The Gospel of Luke emphasized the importance of evangelizing to the Gentiles.

In the Gospel of Luke Jesus told the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus praising the faith of Gentiles such as the widow of Zarephath and Naaman the Syrian, and the story of the only grateful leper, a Samaritan who returned to thank Jesus.

Luke stressed the importance of Forgiveness and God's mercy to sinners.

The story of the Prodigal Son welcomed back by the overjoyed father was present only in Luke.

Luke was the first Christian physician who was also a historian and is presented by the Catholic Church as the patron saint of physicians and surgeons.

The feast day of Saint Luke is commemorated on October 18 by Catholics and other Christians.
