The little mermaid fairy tale was first published in 1837. The fairy tale is about a young mermaid who wants to abandon her life in the sea and being mermaid in order to gain a human body and the love of a human prince. The Mermaid is living under the sea in the underwater kingdom with her father, the king, grandmother and five sisters. Once a mermaid turns 15 she is permitted to visit upper world every year. The Little Mermaid is the youngest among her sisters and she loves to listen to her sisters' stories about visiting human world.
