The clay does not determine what it is used for or how. It is completely up to the potter to employ his skill and decide the best use for any clay. The Master Potter emphasizes the need for every believer to spend quality time daily in the presence of the Lord through prayer and meditation. This is necessary to discipline us to hear Him. No matter what quality the clay may be, it must undergo some purifying processes before it can be used. No potter would like to work with a non-plastic clay which is not malleable. That can be a very frustrating venture. But plastic clay is alive and responsive. It can easily be manipulated by the potter to suit his creative purpose. The outcome is a masterpiece, a work of art which represents an intimate fusion of the artist's spirit and the clay.
