The Mines

A combination of love, deceit, and intrigue brings a group of college-aged adventurers on a secret trek into the Peruvian Amazon as they seek out some ancient Incan mines said by their guides to have been kept hidden from the world for centuries.

Will, the founder of a promising tech startup on the East Coast, is just along for the ride. His cousin Lily invited him, not for the sake of adventure but so that he could finally get to know Elyse, her best friend and classmate from England. Elyse, however, is trying to focus on things other than love, having witnessed Lily's failed two-year romance with Tomás, who put this whole trip together in hopes of saving a relationship filled with lies and infidelity. But it is too late now to make amends. Lily already intends to leave him for Jay, who pressed her to let him take part in this expedition after Tomás put the plans in motion before she could confront him with the truth.

After five eventless days, the group nears the mines in good spirits, but as dark clouds on the horizon force them into the earth seeking shelter, they quickly discover that they are not alone.
