His life hangs by a thread, and the fate of humanity with it. His influence is waning after fifty generations of humans have lived and died; meanwhile, titanic forces have awoken to vie for power while the Primordial Cold Flame stands ready to pass judgment.

Ancient and powerful entities have mentored two children on opposite sides of the spectrum, one side seeking to preserve the human race and the other hellbent on its annihilation.

Abandoned as a newborn, Joel is chosen by the fire and water phoenixes to inherit the Guardian's mantle. But his precocious powers soon threaten to derail the whole process as the child struggles to grasp the full scope of his duties.

Anaya was chosen by the creatures of mud and air. Her hatred toward Joel and the human race knows no limits-she will stop at nothing to achieve her goal. On the day of her eleventh birthday, she sets out on a journey to destroy Joel before the new Guardian can come into his power.

Tonight, Joel and Anaya will reach the old Guardian's cave. The dice are rolling... and only one side can emerge as the victor. Which child will tip the scale that balances chaos and creation?
