Dr Clarke slumped into his chair at the end of a long day of seeing patients. There was a pile of letters and patient reports for him to look through, at the bottom of which was an invitation to the annual squadron reunion.
He had usually avoided these but this year, with his marriage going downhill, he decided he would go, a decision which would change his life, in fact almost end it! It was ten years since the end of the war, a war he tried hard to forget but couldn't. The reunion would bring back all those memories, he knew, but it drew him in like a magnet. He had to go!
