The stage is set in the Dominican Republic. Billy, Dave, and Shaughn were normal-looking tourists in their early thirties. They had just performed the biggest heist in Dominican history, and the police were upset. They had executed a daring raid on an art exhibition at the Porta Plata Civic Centre. Using tear gas and smoke grenades, they walked away with millions of dollars worth of diamonds. Edged on by their criminal minds, they buried d stolen diamonds and got away unscathed. Three years later, the diamonds are still waiting to be retrieved. The Rhombus by Phil Mitchell is a book of great suspense.

Phil's development of the story was properly done. The story progressed at a steady pace. The narrative had a smooth flow, and the scenes were realistic. I also found the storyline quite interesting. The characters in the story had unique personalities. Paul was one of my favourites. He had brawn and brains.
When the time came for the diamonds to be retrieved, an unexpected event caused Paul and his band to return empty-handed. Who stole some of the diamonds? How would the diamonds be moved without discovery? How would they be sold? These were some of the questions racing through my mind as I read on. The later part of this book described the luxurious lifestyle afforded by the possession of the diamonds.

I really found this book interesting. The narrative was descriptive and engaging. I especially loved the depiction of Angelica; somewhat like a diamond in the rough.' Also, I observed that descriptions of violence were mild and non-graphic.

Do you find stories of Caribbean pirates engaging? If yes, you might find this book interesting. If I were to raise a minor criticism, it would be related to the grammatical errors found in the text. Some parts of the dialogue were awkward and confusing. Also, typographical and grammatical errors were regular features in the text. There was an instance where Angelica was misspelt as Angelina. The narrative also contains profanities. However, I found nothing erotic in the text. I really admired Phil's writing skills. Despite the numerous errors, I still enjoyed the story. With a more thorough round of editing, this book should be spotless.

I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. The storyline was well-developed. It was also spiced with complex plots and twists. I deducted a star due to persistent errors. Lovers of adventure and intrigue would find this book to be interesting.
