Lee Jefferson is delighted when, after years of effort, she is finally able to adopt the tiny war orphan she found abandoned in a Vietnamese jungle. But her happiness turns to concern when, on the day the child arrives, her well-worn rag doll is snatched from them in a busy airport. Then Son Luc is kidnapped from their remote Central Florida home and the price of her freedom is a priceless ruby that disappeared from a Vietnamese temple. Searching desperately through the Florida wilderness, Lee discovers that in order to rescue the child, she must destroy the memory of her late husband.
