The murder of Washington All-Pro Safety Sean Taylor in 2007 devastates Guy Finelli at the age of thirteen, dreaming to become a football athlete like Taylor.

The Safety is a dramatic, soul-stirring look at a young athlete's attempt at stardom, as Guy Finelli tries to break free from his past mistakes and fulfill a family legacy of football greatness.

Months of depression leads to Guy's involvement with pot-smoking friends, who then decide to fund their hard-partying ways by selling to area students. Calling themselves the Northeast Consortium, the group comes to rely unknowingly on a vicious Baltimore mobster known as "The Turk" for their supply.

Despite his fall, Guy never entirely forgets his dream of one day playing football. With the help of family and a good friend, he makes the decision to leave drugs and dedicate himself to football. As he prepares for his return to the game he loves, Guy is confronted by the FBI to help dismantle the new flow of cocaine into the County schools. When "The Turk" discovers that Guy Finelli is the source to the FBI, he vows to make his life miserable.
