Reluctant leader of the people of Vidrey, Ralm Willowsong journeyed to Azazura in search of a cure for the infested godspear trees with his wife Cyji and her brother Lavak. Betrayed on the voyage by the mysterious watchers, Ralm, Cyji and Lavak were separated at sea. In the Secret of Godspear, Ralm finds himself again an unwilling leader as he is asked to start a rebellion for the downtrodden people of Azazura who are under strict rule of the Ascendancy, a cruel, authoritarian government that uses the godspear's magic to control the masses. Meanwhile, Cyji continues her search for Ralm and Lavak, witnessing firsthand the Ascendancy's tyrannical ways.
