"Bring me the head of the Prodigal Son, no excuses!"

Jacques Bokan has spent the last year causing as many problems to the Empire of Stone as he can. Now however he finds himself back at Muzrun, looking for his lost lover, Melda, for a time. His search brings him to reencounter Kesh Calmor, the Inquisitor for the Empire seemed to be another dead end but relieved to discover an ally, but there is work and revenge is to be done before they moved on, fueling the fires of rebellion.

While Jac is in Muzrun, Kalderis and his brother Trech, the assassins known as the 'Brothers of Death', have been hired by Minister Partia to bring the Prodigal Son to him. With the aid of other mercenaries and the mysterious shapeshifter Aurora, they discover Jacques' plan is to return to the Captial for a daring robbery. Bringing them into conflict as both man and elf are magically powered warriors on the rooftops of the Captial city.

Lady Winter continues to lead the rebellion as well as handle her own family affairs. Ioney, Jacques' sister, has learned magic at her side, wanting to aid her brother in his quest. Katherine 'the Red' has been tasked with bringing the Prodigal son to justice, adding Fen Belt to her entourage and promising vengeance for his dead brother. Meanwhile, Harrison continues to play a shadow game, wanting to bring the Empire to heel.

Even with the new allies darker forces, aside from the Empire, are at work. Bringing more conflict into Jacques' life, adding more threats to the already hunted Judicator. He must fight harder than ever before if his gamble is to pay off.
