Julie Williams has what most people would call an ideal lifea loving husband, a daughter in college, a son in the military. She lives in a small town where she owns and operates a coffee shop, Uncommon Grounds.

But she didn't always have it so easy. Raised in a single-parent household by a selfish and domineering mother who moved them around the country, Julie longed for stability and a place to call home.

When she enlists the help of a local genealogist to search for information on her father, she learns surprising things about both parents.

Then a mysterious stranger arrives. He watches Julie's movements, asks questions, and hangs around her coffee shop.
