This story for young children is about the adventures of brave young swallows and their epic journey migrating halfway round the world. It is set against the backdrop of the Battle of Britain in 1940 where they share the sky with the strange new machines that can fly almost as well as a swallow. It introduces young children to the world of English garden birds, aeronautics and the history of the Battle of Britain.
Our hero Tommy discovers the joys and dangers of flying, wonders at the new world of humans in the sky, and alongside his friends and family learns of love, leadership, bravery and sacrifice.
