The Walls Came Tumbling Down

Nothing about Rahab was spectacular. The daughter of a farmer/sheep herder, she was the youngest of five, a good complacent girl. That all changed the day she was viciously attacked by a feral man, the day she became pregnant at the age of 13. Now unclean and unmarriageable, she fights to have the child. Her son, Arlo, is raised by her parents, and she is thought to be his sister. No one but closest family members know the truth.

She is resigned to a life taking care of her parents, but a chance encounter with someone from her past makes her thinkfor a short timethat a normal life might be possible. When this love turns out to be false, she swears away from the idea of ever marrying, of ever being happy.

Another chance encounter leads her to Cliven, a blind owner of a dilapidated inn. Rahab makes arrangements to buy the establishment, to move away from the ranch so as not to bring shame to her family. Here, through her business, she meets her one true love, a sailor named Odan. Their idyllic time together is cut short. A family rift brings her sorrow, and she feels as if she was never meant to be content.

When she questions why she must go though all the tribulations in her life, it is made evident when she is called to do something of astonishing faith and bravery. She realizes that what has to be done, has to be done, and she also knows that she will fight to the ends of the earth to keep her small family together.

Everything Rahab does, every action she takes, is to make sure that her family is well-loved and kept safe...even if it means risking everything.
