The main characters of the novel "The Way" are Abraham and Ethel. Abraham Imanov is a soldier of the Soviet Union who fought against fascism. The Soviet general Vlassov, who despises Stalin, transfers his regiment from Ukraine to Poland and hands it over to Hitler. Abraham, who does not accept Hitler, flees to France. Ethel finds Abraham in Azerbaijan after a long search. The Soviet KGB rewards Abraham's love for Ethel with exile.
The love of Abraham and Ethel reflects the unbearable pain of forced decisions. In the 20th century, Hitler's and Stalin's intervention in the fate of peoples forces the reader to despise tyrants.
