I've written about the Wehrmacht, beginning around twelve days into the 1941 campaign against the Soviet Red Army. The Borisov-Slutsk-Bobruisk region represented a fan-tail offensive near Minsk in Belorussia. Extremely controversial and deplorable events occurred here in the early days of the Russian offensive. Russian soldiers were murdered and many more were buried alive. Jewish residents were slaughtered by the guns of Nazi S.S. troops, and sometimes regular Wehrmacht soldiers. Heading toward Smolensk, the Wehrmacht had crossed the Berezina River on the night of July 2, 1941.
